Sterling by MusicMan Mod Pack

Sterling by MusicMan Mod Pack gives you the choice of two fantastic bass mods.  Over the past couple of years I have done this mod to several basses and it’s so worthwhile. The basses are overall well made, but really lacking in their electronics and either of these upgrade resolves all of that. Choose from either the Bartolini or Nordstrand pack to transform your bass. pack include your pickup, a pre-wired preamp to the same shape as the MM Control Plate & 2 sheets of copper shielding.

These mod packs are for the Sterling by MusicMan & other Indonesian look-alikes of the original MusicMan Bass style bass. With the traditional layout of 1 Humbucker & a three knob, 1 jack control plate layout.  Not only does this mod significantly improve the sound of your bass, with either of the below options you get Active/Passive Push/Pull on your Volume Knob.  Regardless of what pack you choose. Meaning if the worst case happens and your battery goes dead on stage. You can bypass the preamp and at least continue your song or set until you can install the new battery.

Bartolini Classic Humbucker

This upgrade gives you my favorite Bartolini Humbucker, the “Classic” wind. That has a rich, deep voice with lots of high-end clarity and warmth. When you dig in, they are responsive and growly. When you pull back, they are clear and sweet. And they’ll take any slapping and popping you want to give them.

Nordstrand Sterling by MusicMan Mod Pack

Nordstrand MM4.2 MusicMan style hum-cancelling split coil humbucker deliverers a tone coveted by all who experience its pronounced midrange scoop and driving timbre of the classic, full-bodied MusicMan range. The specifications that go into its design are derivative of the early MusicMan basses. Which contribute to its powerful low end, heavy scoop, and present yet pleasant top end. Inspired by the tone of the 1970’s, it will provide the player with the sonically encompassing sound of modern Music Man models without any of the clanky sting that can be sometimes present in the high end.

Nordstrand 2b Preamp Wired for Sterling by MusicMan Control Plate

Nordtrand 2 band preamp with Gain Trimer – Volume (Push/Pull, Active/Passive), Treble, Bass.

Overall gain is 0 to 15db by a trim pot on the circuit board.

• Gain: 0-15dB
