Music Man Stingray EX Bass 1997 in fantastic B+ condition with only minor scratches and marks on the side of the Ash body. No marks or scratches on the front of the body, back of the body has some white spots that look like perhaps the finish has reacted to UV light. The maple neck is in amazing condition with the trust rod having plenty of life in it moving in both directions and giving a low action for set up.
The EX Stingrays were only made for a short period of time in Japan over the mid-late 90’s and early 2000’s. The bodies and necks were made 100% to spec in Japan as to the USA Music Man’s. So there is no difference in spec’s or tone to a USA made MM. All hardware & pickups were made in USA. The EX series of guitars and bass were made in Japan exclusively for the local Japanese market and are not often seen or heard of outside of Japan. But these are true to the EX model name and are excellent instruments.
Many of the MIJ Basses could be ordered from catalogue, with some configuration options. This bass has a Drop D tuner that we are very sure was factory fitted as there are no signs of a previous tuner and has aged along with the rest of the hardware. The extender is fully operational. The bridge is also a USA made Music Man bridge with individual, adjustable dampeners (foam mutes). Meaning you can mute your E & A strings to your liking while keeping your D & G strings without any muting as an example. It’s very cool.
