Nicknamed the “Nordstrand Cat Bass” is a retro, slightly odd, deceptively menacing and freaking cool instrument.

With all of the playability and phat tone you would expect from a short scale, plus the added fun of the tone control switches. With 2 x 4 push button controls, and sixteen tone choices to choose from from. The Cat Bass has some serious tonal range that can be used in many situations.

Proprietary single coil pickups, no surprise, made in-house by Nordstand Audio. Giving you a wide range of tone options. in fact, 16 tone shaping options in total.

At the top of the pick guard you will find two sets of  four button controls. Giving you two levels of tone drop off options, a mid-sweep. Or go “All In” by punching all of the buttons at once, which puts the pickups in series mode resulting in a a loud, thick, and punchy tone.

Custom Hipshot tuners with a 1 over 3 headstock may seem unusual, but it provides straight string pull while honoring the original aesthetic of the Goya Panther. Hipshot also provide the custom bridge, all in a dull metal finish matching the tuners.

Cat Bass Quality Control

Every Nordstrand Cat Bass is checked over and QC’d by Nordstrand’s Swiss bass tech Maurilio “Mo” Mina. Once inspected these are the sent to Tone Merchants where we give a final once over to ensure nothing happened in the shipping. Then onto you on a trek and trace shipment.

Additional Pickguards

You can purchase additional pickguards to pimp your Cat Bass to have your own look. Choose from Tortoise Shell, Parchment, Black or Pearl. These can be purchased in the checkout as an additional option. We cannot sell these separately after your initial purchase.
