Stratocaster Neck Big Headstock
Stratocaster neck big headstock like from the Fender CBS days are now available from Tone Merchants. We have our Strat necks made to order in our favorite finishes and wood options for you to upgrade your Stratocaster style electric guitar. or to be used for your own build project. Building a body is one thing, taking on making a neck is another thing all together.
Currently we only offer the CBS large headstock for Stratocaster guitars with Rosewood fingerboard. If you are wanting us to carry stock in with a Maple fingerboard, let us know. The more people can tell us about what you would like for your guitar builds, the better we can be at stocking these options. All are suitable in replacement necks for Fender® MIM, MIJ & Squire Stratocaster Guitars.
Roasted Maple Necks
In New Zealand we have some very humid and sometimes dry conditions. These fluctuations can cause movement in the neck, requiring some adjustment when weather conditions change. Roasting necks reduces the amount of moisture in the wood dramatically and for me (Brad) it’s a very practical solution to this problem. It also looks fantastic. Giving your Stratocaster build project or your current Strat some bling and zing!
Satin Vintage Finish
All our replacement necks have a Satin finish with a Vintage Tint. For me this brings out the really nice honey colouring in maple necks & the satin finish gives a smooth, faster feel compared to a Glossy finish. Particularly for the summer months, a Satin Strat Neck is going to be far less sticky to play.

Notes:
We are unable to pre-drill the mounting holes into the back of the neck for you. This is because we cannot guarantee that the holes we drill will be a 100% match with those on your guitar body. We recommend that if you are not familiar with replacement neck installation that you contact a qualified luthier or repair shop. You can find a list of luthiers and guitar techs that we recommend in this link.
All guitar necks may require a final level, crown, and polish and may need to be fine-tuned to your instrument and playing preferences. Your new neck should be carefully inspected prior to installation and/or modification as necks cannot be returned once altered. Due to the organic nature of wood, each neck is considered unique and may have minor variations in grain or finish from those pictured. Tone Merchants neck heels are made to Fender® USA dimensions and tolerance.
Necks are all made to spec in China for Tone Merchants & are inspected here in Auckland before being listed. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. Replacement Necks are only sold within New Zealand. These cannot be sold outside of NZ.
