Tone Merchants Strat made from the very best components I offer and with this build I wanted to make a bit of a sleeper. A Strat style guitar with with the classic face on looks, but behind that vintage façade are some modern day upgrades.

So I had the body and neck made to spec, Alder with a Roasted Flame Maple & Rosewood Neck. Satin finish on a modern C shape neck. Very nice to play and looks incredible. The roasting of the neck reduces moisture and gives more stability to the neck.

To give this my own take, I have used Porter S90 Pickups to give this Strat some serious beef. The S90’s are like a regular single coil pickup on steroids! More aggressive, louder and edgier than a traditional AlNiCo rod single coil pickups. Giving more punch, and a beefier output compared to a typical Strat.

What better way to bring these pickups that with an Emerson Blender 5 Way Wiring Kit. Featuring 1 master tone, and a Blender pot. In the neck position you can blend the bridge pickup in as much as you want. In the bridge position you can blend the neck pickup in as much as you want. In positions 2 and 4 you can have all three pickups on at once.

I then had it put together by one of the top luthier’s in the country Neville Claughton AKA  Mr Music Nelson.
